GOD'S FREE GIFT FOR YOU

We once heard of a man who stood on a street corner handing out genuine Ten dollar bills. Some received them. Others felt there was a catch to it and they refused his offer. They were suspicious because these bills were a gift. We don't blame men for being sceptical of other men. But it is dangerous not to believe God.

God declares in the Bible:
SALVATION IS A GIFT.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, [9] not of works, lest anyone should boast.

WHY SALVATION MUST BE A GIFT
Because man has no ability to blot out past sins, or to give himself life. He is lost.

Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;

SALVATION IS A GIFT PURCHASED AT TREMENDOUS COST
The fact that salvation is free does not mean that it did not cost anything.
Jesus paid the price when he died on Calvary's cross.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

1 Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, [19] but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

MEN OFTEN TREAT GIFTS LIGHTLY, A DANGEROUS PRACTICE

Such gifts as the Bible, our freedom in Australia & great medical discoveries, are often treated with little consideration because they are gifts.

The very air we breathe is a free gift.

Men reject and neglect the Salvation of God because it is free. They refuse to believe God.

Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

A GIFT IS AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE

Love delights in giving to the object of love. Parents give gifts of love to their children. Perhaps you have wondered whether God loves you. He has answered that question by giving His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the gift of Salvation.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

A GIFT MUST BE ACCEPTED

You cannot work for a gift. You cannot pay money to receive a gift. These actions would remove it from the category of a gift. But if it is a gift you must gratefully receive it to make it your own.

Christ has died for our sins. He has purchased our Salvation on Calvary's cross. The Bible declares that Salvation is a gift. Now we must believe God and receive that gift.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

John 3:36 who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

The Bible says that Salvation is a gift. This gift is centred in Jesus Christ and His death for us on Calvary. The third day He arose from the dead and now is at God's right hand and offers forgiveness of sins and Salvation to all.

Will you believe God now and accept Jesus Christ by faith as your Saviour?

Thank God now for the gift of Salvation, eternal life, by praying this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and I need a Saviour. Right now I turn from my sin and accept You as my Lord and Saviour. I am trusting You and You alone for my Salvation, believing that you died and rose again from the grave.
I thank you for saving me.
Amen.

This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.

To deepen this relationship you should:

1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.

2. Talk to God in prayer every day.

3. Tell others about Christ.

4. Worship, Fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a Church where Christ is preached.

5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by Your love and concern for others.
